People lacking self-belief procrastinate and quit pursuing their goals because they do not believe they are capable of accomplishing them.

My blog started as I wanted to enhance my personal development skills. As my life unfolded and I crossed my 40s, I realized that I needed to work on various aspects of my mindset, and productivity.
I would easily get distracted and also would procrastinate on starting any project. I loved the concept of having a blog and earning a passive income but my fears of the unknown digital landscape prevented me from taking the plunge.
I was scared of launching my blog on WordPress, I did not know what content to write about. In all my limiting beliefs were pulling me down.
Yet, I was determined to enhance my skills. I learned about blogging and the various nuances that were involved with setting up a successful blog like effective keyword research, growing your traffic, etc.
In this journey, I was supported by my mentor, Sadie Smilie, and the people in the PIPS community. I took up the blogging foundations course offered by Sadie, which is a free course but has resources worth millions.
I worked on my mindset to develop the belief that I could achieve what I had set myself to. Plus, I also had to work on my time management to find out time for working on this project as I am simultaneously working full-time. I have a growing-up child to manage. Yet excuses cannot take you far in life.
I realized that many people, like me feel stuck in their lives, especially once they are past their 40s. They want to pursue their dreams but either they do not have the mindset or lack the motivation and time to fulfill them.
Thus, I started this blog to build a community of people who can learn from each other and push each other to progress together, whatever their circumstances in life.
So if you have any unfulfilled dreams look around you and see what can you do to enhance your skills. This is non-negotiable. Everything else will fall in place.

Importance Of Personal Development Plans In Life After 40
No process can succeed without a concrete plan up your sleeves. To start the process of self-development or personal growth, follow these steps:
Set Realistic Goals Which Match With Your Needs And Aspirations In Life
To start, you must know what you want out of life and what will serve you the best.
Early on in life, you have goals. But as time passes, situations change, and it becomes difficult to know if you are going in the right direction.
This is a common feeling especially as you age and may feel like your dreams are left behind or have changed completely. However, it is never too late to make changes!
Think about all those things that make you happy. You have to determine your desires, your values, and priorities. The best way to do this is to think about the things that make you feel alive.
Once you’ve figured out what will make you happy, then focus on how you can best serve others in a way that aligns with those pursuits.
If you’re unsure of what you want out of your life, take a moment to reflect on what you are good at doing. You should also be clear on how much time you want to spend working and how much free time is needed for a happy life.
You need to be able to enjoy your free time as well. The key here is to set realistic goals which you can pursue and which do not overwhelm you.
If you are wondering why do you need to have goals in the first place, please read our blog post Reasons Why It Is Important To Have Goals In Life (For The 40+).
Create A Daily Routine That Will Help You Stay On Track With Your Goals
The average person will make about forty decisions each day. Do you know how many of those decisions are made in the morning?
According to research, two-thirds of our decisions are made before 11 am, which is why it’s so important to make a daily routine that will help you stay on track with your goals!
Daily routines are a great way to live a more organized, stress-less life. Simply by planning out what you want to do each day, you’ll find that your days will be less chaotic and more productive.
Creating a daily routine can also be a catalyst for personal growth, as it can teach us how to make time for things that are important to us.
While creating a daily routine is the best way to start and end each day, it is important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
One of the most recommended ways to decrease stress and health risks is by developing healthy habits. Proper sleep, exercise, and diet are just some of these routines that can help you live life more fully.
Please read our blog post Why Your Routine Matters For Changing Life Habits (For The 40+) to understand the importance of a daily routine in initiating your growth journey, especially with age.
Learn To Prioritize Anything Important In Your Life
The first step to prioritizing anything in your life is to make a list of everything that you have going on in your life.
Next, you will need to categorize each item on the list from 1-5, with five being the most important and one being the least important.
Once you have finished ranking your list, take an initial look at it and ask yourself these questions: What three items are my top priorities? What items can I do without for a little while?
A new trend in the modern world is to prioritize whatever is important in your life. That includes your passions, dreams, family, and hobbies.
Many people find that using the Pareto Principle can help them stay on track with their goals and priorities. The Pareto Principle is a tool that can be used to solve a variety of problems and organize various aspects of one’s life. It suggests that 80% of the consequences come from 20% of the causes.
The Pareto Principle (also known as the 80/20 rule) is a simple idea that can be applied to various aspects of one’s life. This rule states that 20% of the input will produce 80% of the results. Applying this principle to one’s life can help organize work, finances, personal projects, and more.

Learn how to prioritize your health needs, for without a healthy life, no effort toward self-improvement can succeed.
A healthy lifestyle can be achieved by
- eating nutritious foods,
- exercising,
- and taking time to rest.
It’s important to remember that every individual needs different things to stay healthy, but these three aspects are the cornerstones of a healthy lifestyle. Taking care of your health is non-negotiable in your midlife.

Get Involved In Something That Interests You
It’s been said that we only have a limited amount of time on this earth. By taking the time to get involved in something you’re passionate about, you’ll find yourself living a happier and more fulfilling life.
Whether it’s your favorite sports team or a hobby, you should always pursue interests outside of work. Research shows that people who are involved in what they enjoy after their work hours tend to be more productive during the day.
It’s easy to feel like you don’t have time for anything else when you are already busy with your work, family, and other obligations.
But staying involved in the things that interest you will not only enhance your life but will also allow for some personal growth.
If we don’t make the effort to take care of ourselves, then it becomes a lot easier for us to give up on our life goals.
I gave my example earlier in the post of how I started my blogging journey despite working full-time. You can also try blogging if there is something you are passionate about and want to share with the world.

Many people are unaware that the most important skill for long-term success and satisfaction is not IQ but EQ – your emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence, or EQ, is defined as the ability to perceive, control, and evaluate emotions effectively. The higher your EQ, the more successful you will be at work and in life.
Mindfulness is an important emotional intelligence skill that can be used to regulate and manage emotions. Mindfulness can be defined as the ability to choose one’s attention and to determine which thoughts or feelings are most useful in any given moment.
In other words, mindfulness means staying present with your experiences without judgment. Enhancing your ability to be mindful of every moment of your life helps to increase the capacity of your mind. It is an important aspect of the growth of the self.
A mindful person is not only aware of their thoughts but also of the world around them.
Spend Time With People Who Love You Unconditionally And Who Will Not Judge Or Criticize You
You often spend time with people who are not always the best for you. Sometimes it’s because you feel obligated to stay in a relationship or friendship. Sometimes it’s because you don’t want to hurt the feelings of your loved ones.

When you have people who love you, life can seem a lot easier. Surrounding yourself with people who care about you makes your life better. It also is a great way to stay positive.
When you are faced with the day-to-day stress of worrying about how to deal with your bills, holding down a job, and filling your social lives with fulfilling relationships, it’s easy to lose sight of the things that you love most.
The things that matter most in life are the relationships you have with others. It is paramount to cultivate and maintain healthy relationships with friends, family, co-workers, etc.
At the same time, be or follow the lives of people who motivate you, people who have done or achieved what you aspire to be. It not only helps you to take action but also stay focused when you feel disillusioned.
